Elizabeth Horton has been a partner in two previous and highly successful defense firms in the Triad, specializing in medical malpractice and insurance defense litigation for over 30 years. Ms. Horton also focuses on representation of health care providers in North Carolina Medical Board, Dental Board and Board of Nursing investigations and complaints, peer review proceedings and credentialing matters. She has successfully tried cases in various North Carolina counties and handled matters before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia.
Ms. Horton's representative clients include MAG Mutual Insurance Company and Wake Forest Baptist Health.
Ms. Horton received her BS degree magna cum laude from Belmont College in 1984 and her Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1987. Ms. Horton spent her first two years in practice as a law clerk to the late Honorable Judge Norman C. Roettger, Jr., United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Florida, followed by a position as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.
Ms. Horton speaks regularly at risk management conferences and seminars for physicians and allied health professionals.
