Kevin Cartledge joined Coffey Law as Counsel in September 2020, having practiced and been a partner in several litigation firms across the Triad during the course of his career. He is an experienced trial lawyer and litigator, currently specializing in the defense of complex medical malpractice litigation. For more than 20 years, Mr. Cartledge has represented doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice cases all over western and central North Carolina, trying dozens of those cases to a successful jury verdict. Mr. Cartledge has also successfully tried cases involving complex commercial litigation, insurance defense and insurance coverage. In addition to health care litigation, Mr. Cartledge has expertise in the fields of workers’ compensation and municipal liability. He has appeared in Superior Courts across North Carolina, as well as the North Carolina Business Court, the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Mr. Cartledge’s representative clients have included large health care organizations across the state as well as local municipalities. In addition to defending health care providers in medical negligence lawsuits, he also represents those providers and hospitals in medical board inquiries and credentialing and privileging matters.
Mr. Cartledge graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1994 and Wake Forest Law School in 1997, where he was honored to be a member of the moot court board. He has been honored by his peers in a number of ways over the last decade by his inclusion into Best Lawyers in America, North Carolina Super Lawyers Magazine, and Triad Business Leaders Magazine.
Outside the practice of law, Mr. Cartledge enjoys spending time with his family, particularly his two teenage sons.
